It would actually be nice to at least keep the BOINC contribution certificates online. I just realized that the personal account appearance has been altered dramatically and the certificate is no longer a display option.

2) Message boards : Science : How about including biopolymers? (Message 338)
Posted 17 Jul 2017 by Profile Michael H.W. Weber
As far as I have understood, so far, this project is focusing on data from this database which excludes biopolymers (such as proteins, DNA and RNA).

My question is: Given todays general importance of biotechnology and, more specifically, knowledge of biomolecules, wouldn't it be possible to also include proteins, RNA and DNA at a later stage in this project by using data supplied here (or elsewhere)?

And if so, how much more complex would the calcualtion be (future average WU duration compared to todays average WU duration on GPUs)?

Best regards,
Michael.

Yes, you are right. Thanks for the information.

You are right, I only had the 2012 packed installed on that machine.

You should prominently indicate on your project website frontpage that manual installation of this package is required for CPU clients.

To my surprise it is not installed during the regular Windows updating process - otherwise it would have been on my machine.

While in BOINC under Windows the ATI GPU client is indicated as version 1.02, in the tasks overview on the project website, this client is still shown as version 1.01. Might lead to confusion...

Michael.

I guess I confused something here. It is XANSONS version 1.01 (client opencl_ati_102...).

I have an i7 system which received 12 CPU tasks. All of those produced an error. One typical example is:

Task: http://xansons4cod.com/xansons4cod/result.php?resultid=1355421

Error log:
<core_client_version>7.6.33</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
(unknown error) - exit code -1073741515 (0xc0000135)
</message>

What's going on?

Very good!

I checked it for my system and indeed it does distinguish properly between the two R9 cards.
Thank you very much.
I believe it might help a lot in future error diagnostics on systems with more than one GPU.

Michael.

P.S.: It seems your initial tweaks caused a couple of tasks to produce errors? I am not 100% sure but I think the app version # has increased by two from yesterday to today (errors occurred this night)? Howver, the final one now seems safe. ;-)

This is all the information, I as a contributer can extract from my project web account for a given task:

Stderr Ausgabe

<core_client_version>7.6.33</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[

</stderr_txt>

Somewhere here I need to see the hardware information for my graphics boards as it is included in e.g. Primegrid:

<core_client_version>7.6.33</core_client_version>

You may just ask the guys at Primegrid how to do that.

It is important, however, to really extract the correct model. The 280X and 290X are both AMD R9 cards. The information in BAM! or BOINC therefore is not sufficient where for my system it would just indicate the presence of two AMD R9 OpenCL devicec.

Would it be possible to make the log file for each of the tasks a bit more informative regarding what type of GPU was used? I have a dual GPU system (1x AMD Tahiti [280X] & 1x AMD Hawaii [290X]) and if one card gives errors it becomes a bit uncomfortable finding out which is the faulty one.

Michael.
