This kind of errors is hard to debug. I’ll put the scheduler in the full debug mode during the next release of WUs to see all communications between the server and the hosts. However, I cannot guarantee that even this will allow me to establish the source of the problem.

Also, not all Linux hosts with AMD CPUs have this problem. See e.g. these three:

Correction to my previous post:
In March...May 2018, I allowed my Nvidia/ Linux Mint hosts to pull CPU jobs along with GPU jobs, and they received CPU jobs indeed. Just my CPU-only hosts were never graced with a single Xansons task.

Unfortunately, this kind of issue is very hard to resolve because the scheduler does not report any errors.
Probably this is not the case, but can you please check that you not only enabled the CPU usage but also allowed to receive the WUs for the xansons_cpu app because in this project the CPU app is a separate application and not the app version like in other projects.

Hello
CPU Only ?
Thank you

Hello,
No, both CPU and GPU as usual.

Well, some of us do have 5 GPUs per host or more. Old mining rigs that I've acquired to crunch GPU projects instead of crappy mining are used. So 25 per GPU was nice.

Some hosts report 50 GPUs, http://xansons4cod.com/xansons4cod/show_host_detail.php?hostid=2356...
Of course, setting per GPU limit would not be a problem if the total number of WUs was not so limited.

Hello,
I installed C++2017 x64 then x86 ! Like you wrote, the x64 was removed
Now I reinstal C++2013 x86 then x64.
The pitty is that I ne"ed to wait the next WU release to check !!!
Unless you have a CPU "test WU" that I can inject. (GPU is OK)

Sure, you can do a test by running the CPU app of this project in stand-alone mode. Please, download this archive, https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RqmgVyZrh6cw4YrXtbdSdcnL8efTwBjT. It contains the executable of the CPU app, the batch file which runs the executable with --nthreads 12 argument and two input files of the test WU.
Unzip it somewhere, then double-click on xansons_boinc_OMP.bat file. The test should complete within a minute. If successful, the files BOINCjob.txt and boinc_finish_called will be created along with stderr.txt and stdout.txt.
If the problem is still there, the executable will fail to start.

What about the maximum amount of allowed GPU WUs a computer is allowed to have In Progress at once? Has that changed? It's like I can only have 25 WUs In Progress at a time an each PC I have. It's never been like that.

Yes, it’s 25 per host since September. It was 25 per GPU before that but I had to switch to per host limit because some hosts reported that they had 5 or more GPUs installed to get more WUs. With the per host limit, the WUs are distributed more evenly among the hosts.

Very difficult to get GPU WU's.

The fraction of GPU WUs among all WUs didn't changed since the last run.

Hello,

The empty log indicates that the app just failed to start. Usually, this happens if the redistributables are not installed, but since they are this is not the case. Is there any chance that the app is blocked by the antivirus software?

Update. Did you install the x64 version of C++ redistributables first and the x86 version second? If so, there is a chance that the x64 libraries were removed when you installed the x86 ones. Microsoft released a fix for that, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3138367/update-for-visual-c-2013-and-visual-c-redistributable-package.

I ran into a problem yesterday with some new machines (AMD CPU) unable to pull CPU work on Linux w/ kernel 4.15 (Mint 19).

Other machines (intel) had no problem with either Windows or Linux (3.13).

I tried everything I could think of on this end but the project would not issue work. It kept saying "no cpu tasks available" but there is work for Nvida, ATI, etc.

Host:
6611
6612
6631

I increased the scheduler’s debug level to see if there are any warnings regarding your hosts. Also, I changed the job sizing policy to increase the number of CPU jobs available for high-end CPUs. However, I cannot promise that it will help because I don't know yet whether the problem is related to job size matching or not.

Update. Seems it didn't help...

Should we understand no WU's before Jan 19th ? Or Jan 12th ? Thank You.

Probably due to the holidays, less than 20 new structures were added to the Crystallography Open Database over the past two weeks. It will be better to process them along with the next bunch (January 19th).

Title says it all.

The WUs here are OS-independent. The apps work on Linux, Mac and Windows. However, after the goal of this project was achieved in October 2017, this project is on pause most of the time. The new WUs are added only in small bunches twice per month (on Saturdays, usually between 18:00 and 19:00 UTC). The next bunch will be added on January 5. Usually these WUs are gone in two hours.

This is so because this project processes the structures from the Crystallography Open Database (COD) which has limited number of entries. The goal was to process all the existing structures (about 400 000) in the COD. Now it is done, and we have to wait for the new structures to appear in the COD. Usually, only about 1000 new structures appear per month.
