I joined this project some days ago, it works fine, but I noticed the website doesn't use HTTPS, not even for logging in or registering. Why isn't the whole website using it?

Actually, this is the biggest issue we have right now. For example, some users can't receive emails with the password recovery link because they are not SSL-encrypted. Our website admin is on vocation till Augeust. So if I manage to configure the SSL encryption myself we will have it earlier, if not we will have to wait till August.
